Meet Judge Franklin

The Honorable Ramona Franklin is a former elected Harris County District Court Judge and current candidate for the 496th District Court. With more than two decades of legal and judicial experience, Judge Franklin has served the system as a prosecutor, defense attorney, and judge.

Throughout her career, Judge Franklin has remained committed to what she calls "Blindfold Justice" - the principle that every person who enters her courtroom should be treated fairly, with dignity and respect, regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, or socioeconomic background. Her approach to justice is grounded in fairness, accountability, public safety, and faithful application of the law.

Judge Franklin's commitment to service extends beyond the courtroom. She is the founder and host of the annual Blindfold Justice Mock Trial Competition, an educational program for young people ages 10-19. The competition pairs participants with experienced attorneys and introduces them to the work of lawyers, judges, and the justice system through hands-on learning and mentorship.

Judge Franklin earned her Bachelor of Arts in English, with a minor in Criminal Justice, from Florida A & M University. She later earned a Master of Science in Sports Administration from Lynn University and her Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

Beyond her legal and judicial service, Judge Franklin is a motivational speaker and aspiring author. She is married and is also a proud dog mom of Bailey, her spirited 12-year old Maltipoo.
